In the heart of Alabata, Oyo State, stands a beacon of hope and a redemption ground for a vast majority of Nigerian Youths- the NBYF Treatment Center. Purposefully designed and meticulously equipped, this state-of-the-art facility offers more than just treatment; it provides a lifeline to those battling the emotional and psychological aftermath of trauma, addiction, and gender-based violence (GBV) and any other mental health-related situation that puts the well-being of our dear youths at risk

Healing isn’t just about treatment; it’s about environment, care, and commitment. At NBYF, we believe that every survivor deserves a space that fosters true recovery, and that’s exactly what the NBYF Treatment Center provides. Recognizing this urgent need, Lady Esther and the NBYF team invested heavily in creating a facility that offers not just clinical treatment but also psychosocial support, empowerment, and long-term rehabilitation.

At the New Beginnings Youth Foundation (NBYF) Treatment Center in Alabata, Ibadan, our commitment to restoring and empowering at-risk youth goes beyond just providing shelter. We believe that true transformation requires a holistic approach—one that nurtures the mind, body, and soul while equipping young individuals with the skills and support they need to reintegrate into society. These include

1. Monthly Youth Outreach Program

Our Monthly Youth Outreach Program serves as a vital initiative to engage, educate, and empower both current residents and other at-risk youth in surrounding communities. Through structured activities, mentorship sessions, and interactive discussions, we provide guidance on topics such as Personal development and self-esteem building as well as decision-making skills to navigate life’s challenges.

2. Psychosocial Support

At NBYF, we recognize that psychological and emotional healing is just as critical as physical well-being. Many of the youths we serve have endured severe trauma—whether from abuse, neglect, exploitation, or life on the streets. Our psychosocial support services include:

  • One-on-one therapy sessions to help youth process past experiences and develop coping mechanisms.

  • Group therapy for peer support and shared healing.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to address anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

3. Mental Health Awareness

Raising awareness about mental health is an essential part of our mission. Many young people struggle with undiagnosed or untreated mental health conditions, often leading to poor decision-making, substance abuse, or even criminal behavior. Through workshops, discussions, and community engagement, we educate youth on:

  • The importance of mental health and emotional well-being.

  • How to recognize and address common mental health challenges.

  • Coping strategies and techniques to maintain psychological resilience.

4. Substance Abuse Education

Substance abuse is a significant challenge among at-risk youth, often serving as a coping mechanism for trauma. At NBYF, we tackle this issue head-on with our substance abuse education program, which focuses on:

  • Raising awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

  • Providing counselling and rehabilitation for those struggling with addiction.

  • Teaching refusal skills to help youth make healthier choices.

5. Life and Interpersonal  Skills Training

At NBYF, we believe that long-term success depends on practical life skills and strong interpersonal relationships. Our life and interpersonal skills training equips youth with communication and conflict resolution skills to foster positive relationships as well as leadership development to empower youth as future role models.
